Since the beginning of the twentieth century the Fornaro family is the owner of "Masseria del Carmine" a very old farm. <br />
In the beginning the family owned 250 hectares but in the 1960 most of the family lands were expropriated for the construction of the ILVA steelworks and now the family only owns 60 hectares. In 2008, the dioxin tragedy has befallen on the activities of Pastor Vincent Fornaro. The milk of his ships was contaminated with dioxin, then the meat. As a result, 600 animals were slaughtered, and 15 workers laid off.  It meant the end of the Fornaro dreams of expansion of the Carmine’s activities. Now no authority have the courage to give him permission to resume its activities.
